Mumbai, Feb 19: After smashing all records for the longest run at the box office, Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol’s cult classic Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge will be taken off from Mumbai’s Maratha Mandir on Friday.
Today is reportedly the last day of 'DDLJ' on Maratha Mandir. The film has been running at the theatre for a good 1009 weeks (that’s just a little under 20 years). For that long, fans have been flocking to see the Aditya Chopra-directed movie on the big screen. But now, sources tell us that the film will be taken off this weekend.
A few weeks back, both Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol had celebrated the completion of the 1000 weeks of the uninterrupted run of ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’.
The first news of 'DDLJ' being taken off from Maratha Mandir came in October last year, but was denied by the theatre owner and YRF. Apparently, the aim was to let the film complete 1000 weeks at the box office.
But like all good things come to an end sooner or later, the run of DDLJ too ends today.
It’s sad to say it goodbye.
