Bengaluru, Oct 29: Police have registered two separate cases in connection with the grand reception accorded to Congress leader DK Shivakumar on Saturday. The mammoth welcome at Kempegowda International Airport had hit traffic between Sadahalli Gate and KIA on Ballari Road. Shivakumar’s convoy also disrupted traffic flow from KIA to the Congress office on Queens Road.
A constable with City Armed Reserve (CAR), currently working as gunman to deputy commissioner of police, North East, filed a complaint against unidentified persons for attacking and prohibiting him from carrying out official duties.
M Bharamappa Sunagar said he was standing near the toll gate on Ballari Road when the incident took place. “Around 15 men holding Congress flags were disturbing traffic by standing in the middle of the road. When I asked them to clear the road, they abused me and attacked me,” Sunagar wrote. A case has been registered under IPC section 353 (obstructing police official from carrying out duty).
Another FIR was registered against “Congress party members” for installing flex banners carrying pictures of Congress leaders including DK Shivakumar on the 32km stretch from Sadahalli toll plaza to Bharatinagar Gate.
“Despite categorical directions from Karnataka high court banning flex, Congress leaders installed flex banners all over the place,” a staff from Chikkajala police station stated in his complaint. A case has been booked under Karnataka Open Place Disfigurement Act.
