Belagavi, Aug 26: Hundreds of farmers staged protest in front of Deputy Commissioner's Office under banner of Karnataka Rajya Raitha Raitha Sangha (KRRS) and Hasiru Sene (Green Brigade) for their various demands including immediate release of compensation and Rehabilitation of those affected in the recent flood and rain fury.
Leading the agitators Farmers leader Kodihalli Chandrashekar said that hundreds of acres of agriculture land submerged at Chikkodi, Athani, Raibag and other places in the district due to heavy water released from Maharashtra Dams. Besides standing crops were totally washed away in the flood water.
Demanding that Maharashtra state government should be held responsible for floods in Belagavi District, Kodihalli Chandrasekhar urged both State and the Union government to hold Maharashtra responsible for releasing water unscientifically and without giving proper information to concerned authorities in Karnataka
