Bengaluru, Sept 9: Despite a marginal fall in outflows from upper reservoirs of Krishna River in Maharashtra, the flood situation remained grim in North Karnataka and elsewhere in the State as heavy rains continued to lash Western Ghat areas continued bringing copious inflows in to various rivers.
Official sources said the flood level in Krishna River came down as the discharge from dams and barrages in Maharashtra showed a reduced trend bringing relief to people in Belagavi, Bagalkote, Vijayapura and downstream Yadgir, Kalaburgi and Raichur districts.
However, rivers originating in Western Ghats coming under the catchment areas of Ghataprabha, Malaprabha, Doodhganga, Tunga and Bhadra, Netravati, Cauvery and Hemavati Rivers showed increasing trend as heavy rains continued to lash the hilly areas of Western Ghats.
