Addressing media persons in the city on Thursday Mr Khader rubbished the allegations made against him by BJP leaders of shielding the accused in the case.
The minister said that he had called up the police to inquire about the incident in detail and tell them not to hesitate to take stringent action against miscreants. “But the BJP leaders are shamelessly spreading rumours against me and accusing me of protecting the accused,” he lamented.
He also criticized former chief minister DV Sadananda Gowda for stating that one of the accused in the case was a Congress worker. ““Being a former CM, he should find out the truth before making them,” he said adding that irresponsible statements create problems.
Mr Khader also urged the police officers investigating the case not to yield to any pressure. “Action will be taken against the concerned police officers if there were any grievances or shortfalls in the police investigation,” he said.
It could be recalled here that two medical students - a boy from Kerala and a girl from Bihar – were kidnapped by a group of miscreants from Deralakatte last week. The kidnappers had allegedly forced the couple to engage in sexual acts before camera and tried to blackmail them. Police have arrested eight persons in connection with the case.
