Mumbai, Nov 6: The Naupada police in Thane on Saturday arrested a 42-year-old ex-serviceman for allegedly raping his daughter and subjecting her to other forms of physical abuse for the last one month.

The police said the accused, who stays in Hans Nagar, had forcibly confined his 17-year-old daughter in his house since October 1, and had been forcing himself on her almost every night, as well as making her consume liquor and watch pornographic material on his cell phone and computer.

The police have also arrested the accused’s wife, who is the victim’s stepmother, who, in spite of having full knowledge of the crime, not only refrained from reporting it to the authorities, but also encouraged it. Both the accused were arrested on Saturday after the victim sought help from her neighbours, who informed the police.

They have been charged under the Indian Penal Code as well as the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act. The police are now interrogating the duo to find out more about the exploitation.
