Four killed, two injured in Tata Sumo-lorry head on collision

Ballari, May 13: Four persons died and two others sustained injuries in a road accident on NH-13 near Amlapur village in Kudligi taluk of the district during the early hours of Tuesday.

The accident was a result of a head-on collision between a lorry and a Tata Sumo.

According to preliminary information, all the deceased and the injured were said to be from Vijayapura district travelling in the ill-fated Tata Sumo.

Police have identified the deceased as Rupadevi (30), Basamma (34), Rupa (28) and Manjunath (26), who was driving. Malappa and Chidanand, who were severely injured, have been admitted to the Government Hospital at Kudligi.

The lorry driver and cleaner are said to have been absconding after the accident.

Kana Hosahalli police have registered a case. Further details are awaited.
