Chitradurga, Mar 18: Four persons, including a pregnant woman, died on the spot and one person has received injuries when an ambulance in which they were travelling was hit by a train at an unmanned railway level crossing in Talaku Police limits here on Thursday night.
The deceased have been identified as Gangamma (56), Lakshamamma (60), Shankaramma (55) and Chandrakala (36). Ambulance driver Shivareddy, who received injuries, was admitted to hospital where his condition is said to be out of danger.
The ambulance was carrying the pregnant woman to a government hospital for treatment.
