Mangalore, Feb 18: The customs officials at Mangalore International Airport seized gold totally weighing 789.950 grams worth valued at Rs.24, 09,347 in two separate cases.
In the first case, the officers seized one gold sheet and one gold rod weighing 351.350 grams and valued at Rs.10, 71,617. It was concealed in a cream wafer tin and a marker pen in a carton box from the possession of a passenger Jaiyafar Chala Muhammed Kunhi Haji, a resident of Chala House in Vidya Nagar in Kasargod.
He arrived at Mangalore International Airport on Tuesday at about 5.30 a.m. by Jet Airways fight 9W531 from Dubai.
In the second case, the officers have seized 18 sets of silver colour paint coated gold hook holders and hook bar holders of trousers, totally weighing 438.600 grams and valued at Rs.13,37,730 concealed in the trousers kept in a carton box from the possession of a passenger Noushad Mouval, a resident of Thachangad House in Mouval in Kasaragod.
He arrived on Tuesday at about 7.30 a.m. by Air India Express flight IX814 from Dubai.
