Bengaluru, Oct 23: Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy today declined to provide security for women from Karnataka in the age group of 10-50 years who wish to visit Sabarimala to have darshan of Ayyappa saying that only Kerala government will have to such measures.
When asked whether his government will provide security for women devotees wishing to visit Sabarimala following Supreme Court directing Kerala government to allow women in the age group of 10 to 50 to visit Ayyappa temple at Sabarimala, Mr Kumaraswamy, speaking at 'Meet The Press' organised by the Bengaluru Press Club and Reporters Guild here on Tuesday, said that in federal system such assurance cannot be given.
“I cannot interfere in the functioning of other State Governments. Kerala Government has its own system of providing security to women devotees visiting Sabarimala following Supreme Court verdict to allow all women in the age group of 10 to 55 to visit the hill shrine,” he said.
Mr Kumaraswamy declined to be dragged into the recent #MeToo campaign going on. "I don't want to comment on the issue. Let it be discussed by the learned people."
