How cops put tyre clamps for wrong parking, but this man still drove car away!

Chandigarh, Aug 19: Police have arrested a 26- year-old resident of Makhan Majra village on the charges of theft as he replaced the two tyres of his car (a Maruti Ciaz) that had been clamped for wrong parking in the Industrial Area and coolly drive away with the car (with the clamps still attached to the two tyres). A clamp costs around Rs 2,500.

Jaspal Singh (26) had parked his car (CH-01-BB-2365) on the wrong side of the road near Plot Number 6, Phase-1, Industrial Area, Chandigarh.

Noticing the violation, the traffic police put a clamp on two of his tyres. With Jaspal driving away with the car, a complaint was lodged with the Industrial Area police station and the car was impounded.

Jaspal was also arrested under Section 379 (theft) of the Indian Penal Code and Sections 122 and 177 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988.
