Hubballi, Apr 6: While no aspirant from Karnataka figures among the top 10 rank holders in the 2018 UPSC Mains, results for which were announced late Friday, two feature in the top 50.
Rahul Sharanappa Sankanur has secured the 17th rank, while Lakshmi N has bagged the 45th. Rahul, nephew of MLC SV Sankanur, is a BE graduate in electronics and communications from RV College of Engineering, Bengaluru. After working in an MNC for a year, he availed coaching in Delhi. This was his third attempt at cracking the civil services exams. He said it was his grandfather VP Sankanur’s dream to see one of his grandsons as an IAS officer. Rahul is the second son of Sharanappa V Sankanur, Hubballi resident and retired assistant executive engineer of PWD.
Malleswaram resident Lakshmi, who had secured the 50th rank in the Indian Forest Service (IFS) exams, said: “I am really happy I’ll be able to choose IAS now.”
Mysurean Dr Akash Shankar, an alumnus of Bangalore Medical College and Research Institute, has bagged the 78th rank in his sixth attempt. A KAS officer of the 2017 batch, Akash is a resident of Nazarabad.
Kruthika, a resident of Roopanagar in Mysuru, has landed the 100th rank. Kruthika, who is presently serving as an IRS officer, is a BE (computer science) graduate from Vidhyavardhaka Engineering College, Mysuru. “It was my childhood dream to become an IAS officer,” she said.
