U K Monu, the former president of Ullal Darga committee, who had earlier fought for the MLA ticket from Mangalore constituency, on Monday said that he was also one of the ticket aspirants for impending Lok Sabha polls.
The development comes after Health and Family Welfare Minister U T Khader's advice to the leaders and members of Dakhsina Kannada district Congress Committee to maintain unity and refrain from groupism.
Addressing the media persons at Pressclub Mr Monu said that he had been working for the party for four decades.
“I have served in various levels in the party. I am an eligible candidate for Dakshina Kannada Lokh Sabha. In 2000 I aspired an assembly ticket, but was denied the ticket from high command. That may be due to congress is a national party and it has many leaders,” he said.
“I have already met state and national level party leaders and convinced them to give me a ticket. Since three months I am consulting KPCC and AICC heads. Even poll survey committee which visited Mangalore recently recommended my name. So, I am confident of winning the election,” he said.
“But even if I don't get the ticket, I will continue serving the party honestly,” he said.
