New Delhi, Mar 20: Music composer Ilaiyaraja has sent a legal notice to his long term colleague S.P. Balasubrahmanyam, asking the singer to not perform any song composed by him without his permission.
“Organisers of the concerts in different cities and the managements of all the venues, which says that we are not supposed to perform compositions of Shri.Ilaiyaraja without his permission, if so, it is breaking the copyright law and have to pay huge financial penalities and face legal action. Let me say, I am ignorant of these legalities,” the six-time National Award winning singer, wrote on Facebook.
SPB, along with singer Chitra and his son Charan are currently on a world tour titled SPB50, to mark his 50th year in the industry. The tour began on August in Toronto, followed by his concert in Russia, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Singapore, Dubai and the U.S.
In the social media post, the singer requested audience to grace the upcoming shows, where he promises to perform songs composed by other musicians. SPB-Illiayaraaja together have given many hits like Sundari Kannal, Kuyilae Kuyilae, Mannil Indha and so on.
