Mysuru, Mar 15: A traffic policeman, who was trapped by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) while accepting bribe from an autorickshaw driver in Mysuru on Monday evening, reportedly swallowed the notes to destroy evidence.

ACB sources said they took Assistant Sub-Inspector of Police M.G. Ramesh of K.R. Traffic police station to K.R. Hospital for a CT scan to trace the four Rs. 500 denomination notes.

“The matter is still under investigation and the findings of the CT scan report cannot be made public,” an ACB official said. However, the official also added that the ACB is in possession of the saliva swab containing the chemical applied on the notes while laying the trap.

ACB sources said an auto driver had approached Mr. Ramesh to release his auto that was seized about four months ago following an accident. When Mr. Ramesh demanded a bribe of Rs. 3,000, the auto driver approached the ACB.

The ACB also arrested constable Mallesh, who was with Mr. Ramesh, while accepting the bribe.
