KG Halli minor rape case accused arrested

Bengaluru, Jun 4: KG Halli police on Saturday arrested the accused in the minor rape case within 12 hours of the crime. The accused, Veeresha, 24, son of Durgappa, who is a ragpicker by profession has confessed to his crime and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) charges have been slapped against him.

The case was solved by a team led by Ajay Hilori, IPS, DCP East within 12 hours even as the commissioner of police announced a reward for the team.

The accused - a resident of Virannanna Playa, K.G.Halli, and native of Kondlahalli, Molkalmur Taluka, Chitradurga district - came to the place of the victim after midnight and saw her coming out of the hut for nature's call. He allegedly lifted her, took her away and committed the crime.

Meanwhile, police on night patrol at East Bengaluru on Friday night shifted the five-year-old girl, who was lying unconscious by roadside in KG Halli, to hospital.

Doctors treating her at Bowring Hospital said the girl has been sexually assaulted and the miscreant hit her head with a blunt object when she resisted.

The victim is undergoing surgery and further medical treatment.
