DK police nab eight for loot during Mahamastakabhisheka

Mangalore, February 9: Dakshina Kannada district police have nabbed eight persons including six women and two men, who were engaged in chain snatching, pickpocket and dacoity during Mahamastakabhisheka of Bhagavan Sri Bahubali at Venur recently.

Superintendent of Police Abhishek Goyal told media persons that the team from Betagari village in Gadag district led by Somanna (48) were arrested based on a complaint filed by Shashikala, a devotee who had lost her mobile phone and Rs 10,000 during the festival.

The modus operandi of the eight member team is committing crime during temple festivals. The team had reached Venur after visiting Kukke Sri Subrahmanya Temple and Sri Kshetra Dharmastala in a rented van.

“We are collecting more details from Gadag police,” the SP said.
