7-member armed gang beat up, loot family

Bengaluru, Apr 2: A gang of seven armed men broke into the house of a chartered accountant, beat up the family members and tied their hands and legs before fleeing with valuables worth Rs. 2.6 lakh at Seegehalli in K.R. Puram early on Saturday.

Partiban, a mobile company employee, woke up when the gang broke open the front door of his house. They beat him up and threatened him at gunpoint before tying his hands and legs. They also overpowered his wife Padmavathi, mother Valliyamma and daughter Pavithra, and escaped with valuables. Mr. Partiban managed to free himself and raised an alarm, following which the neighbours alerted the police. The accused were aged between 20 and 30 and spoke English and Hindi, the police said.
