The proposal, made under the National Transformation Program (NTP) 2020, would see the ministry provide training for youths to prepare them for work in NGOs.

Salem Al-Deeni, undersecretary at the Ministry of Labor and Social Development, said: “While the ministry pays keen attention (to) the transparency and accountability of the NGOs in the Kingdom, it is also keen on developing the human resources to keep pace with the current developments.”

The ministry has undertaken a detailed study of the whole NGO system in the Kingdom, to assess the job requirements.
Associations, institutions and charitable organizations all come under the umbrella of NGOs.

“We want to ensure 100 percent Saudi staff in these organizations by 2020,” Al-Deeni said, pointing out that NTP 2020 will pave the way to achieve the goals of the Saudi Vision 2030 reform plan.
