Khandawali, Jun 26: As villagers today wore black bands to protest the killing of a Muslim youth onboard a Mathura-bound train, his elder brother, Hashim, struggled to come to terms with the reality that he would be celebrating this Eid without his sibling.

Despair hung like a shroud over Khandawali village, lying on the outskirts of the national capital, as the family and other locals remained in a state of shock over the brutal killing of their 17-year-old "son" Junaid.

The Muslim residents, who wore black bands during the special morning namaz today, said Eid has lost all its meaning and wondered if "the spate of lynchings" would ever end.

Junaid's father Jallaludin (55) told reporters that Eid would never be the same for the family.

Though prayers were offered in the morning, no Eid celebrations were held here. The villagers gathered around Jallaludin and other family members, consoling them in their hour of grief.

Reports stated that people also wore black bands at some other places, including Mewat, as a mark of protest against the horrific killing.

Junaid's cousin, Sanovar Khan, said they had posted about the protest on social media.

Hashim (20) broke down several times as he recalled the fateful Thursday evening when he along with his other siblings boarded the train from Delhi's Sadar Bazaar after finishing Eid shopping.

"They killed him in cold blood. All of a sudden, a group of 20-25 persons who had boarded the train from Okhla station pushed my brother Junaid and he fell down," he recalled, his voice choking with emotion.

"When Junaid and I asked why they were pushing, they pointed to the skull cap on my head. They said we are Muslims, anti-nationals, Pakistanis, that we eat beef. Then they pulled my cap, threw it down and they also tried to pull my beard," he said.

Jallaludin, while trying to console Hashim, dismissed the police's claim that Junaid was killed because of a dispute over the sharing of a seat.

"Junaid had, in fact, vacated a seat for an elderly person. The seat theory is being cooked up as an excuse. The incident is purely communal in nature and my son was targeted because of his religious identity," he said.

"We offered namaaz but we won't celebrate the festival. We want those responsible for our son's death to be punished," he said when asked about the 'black Eid' in the village.

Jallaludin, when asked if anyone from the Haryana government had met family yet, said, "Not even a lower rank official of the state government has visited us, what to say about the chief minister. We have not even heard anybody from the government condemning the incident."

The also villagers who sat in protest with the grieving family.

Shakeel, a resident of Khandawli in Ballabgarh near Delhi, told reporters, "We could not have celebrated Eid with the usual sense of joy considering how Junaid was killed. So we decided to mark our protest by wearing black bands around our arms."

"When will this stop? After every such incident, the government offers some compensation and people move on. But the question is, will it ever stop?" asked a villager in his 20s.

He also questioned the efficacy of the administration in acting against the accused, wondering why only one arrest had been made in four days.

The police had yesterday announced a reward of Rs one lakh for credible information leading to the arrest of other accused in the case.

The family was yesterday given a cheque for Rs 5 lakh by the District Red Cross while Wakf Board chairman announced another Rs 5 lakh and a job to one of Jallaludin's sons.

Junaid was stabbed to death while his brothers, Hashim and Sakir--were injured by a mob which also allegedly hurled slurs against them onboard the Delhi-Mathura passenger train between Ballabgarh and Mathura stations on Thursday night.

The arrested accused, before being remanded to police custody by a court in Faridabad district earlier, had told reporters that he was in an inebriated state at the time of the incident and attacked the teenager on being allegedly instigated by fellow passengers.

Suspect state sponsored actions to consolidate Hindu votes. Wondering if all Hindus accept this and throw alliance. Steadfastness and fear of Allah shall prevail against all these pseudo nationalist plans.

Mohammed Imran, Udupi,
As soon as you start fighting against such goons, they will label you as 'Terrorist" and you know what happens after that?
According to them:-
One wearing skull cap is a Terrorist
One goes to Madrasa is a Terrorist
One reads Qur'an is a Terrorist
One with Islamic beard is a Terrorist
One who transports a cattle is a Terrorist

All come under one umbrella called "RADICAL ISLAMIC TERRORISM"

Bengaluru, May 14: JD(S) leader HD Revanna has been released from Parappana Agrahara Jail today, on May 14 after he was granted conditional bail.

He was granted a conditional bail yesterday by a Bengaluru court in connection with a kidnapping case linked to sexual abuse allegation against him and his son Prajwal.

Revanna was arrested on May 4 by Special Investigative Team (SIT) officials in a kidnapping case registered against him at KR Nagar police station in the city. The case is linked to his son and Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna’s mega sex scam.

Representing the JD(S) MLA from Holenarsipura, he termed this case a "political conspiracy" against him.

A SIT, constituted by the Karnataka government, is probing the alleged sexual abuse against against HD Revanna and his son Prajwal Revanna.

Prajwal Revanna, the incumbent MP, is seeking another term from Hassan Lok Sabha constituency. The voting for the seat took place on April 26.

Earlier, JD (S) chief HD Kumaraswamy alleged that Karnataka government does not want a fair inquiry.

"They are misusing the office. Nothing is going to happen ultimately. They wanted character assassination of HD Revanna and for that reason, they are using their office," Kumaraswamy told ANI.

Meeting Karnataka Governor Tawara Chanda Gehlot on May 9, a delegation of the Janata Dal (Secular) submitted a memorandum and urged Gehlot to recommend a CBI probe.

Prajwal sill absconding

The JD(S) MP, Prajwal, fled to Germany after Karnataka State Commission for Women Nagalakshmi Chowdhary wrote to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah seeking an investigation into over obscene videos of Prajwal Revanna allegedly sexually abusing several women. He has also skipped summons issued by the SIT to appear before it.

The ‘obscene videos’ involving Prajwal Revanna started making the rounds ahead of the first phase of Lok Sabha elections in Karnataka on April 26, triggering a political slugfest.

A lookout notice against Prajwal Revanna has been issued at all airports in India, along with a Blue Corner notice. A Blue Corner notice issued by Interpol helps countries collect and share information regarding a person's location and their activities as part of a criminal investigation.

The heart-wrenching incident unfolded in the serene confines of Halamaddy village in the picturesque expanse of Dandeli, nestled within the idyllic expanse of Uttara Kannada district.

In the throes of a fervent dispute with her spouse, the aggrieved wife, succumbing to an overwhelming surge of emotions, callously propelled their tender six-year-old progeny into the somber depths of a nearby canal, thereafter alerting the local populace to her grievous act.

Promptly apprised of the distressing occurrence by concerned bystanders, the authorities were swiftly summoned to the scene to confront the harrowing aftermath.

Responding to the distress call, the diligent officers of Dandeli rural police swiftly converged upon the site where the innocent child had been cast into the unforgiving waters of the canal, subsequently effecting the retrieval of the child's lifeless form.

Mangaluru, May 12: In a shocking development, a group of pilgrims which had travelled from Mangaluru International Airport to Saudi Arabia earlier this month, to perform Umrah has alleged that 26,432 Saudi Riyals, which were kept in a bag, have been stolen.

In a complaint submitted to the Bajpe Police, Soukath Banu, wife of Ahmed Iqbal of Ajyad Tours and Travels, said that her husband, Ahmed Iqbal, along with 35 members, planned and scheduled to perform the Umrah and were travelling from Mangaluru International Airport (MIA) via Mumbai to Jeddah.

Soukath Banu had given Ahmed Iqbal 2,000 Saudi Riyals for performing Umrah and other expenses. The group members were also told to bring Saudi Riyals to meet their expenses.

In her plaint, Soukath stated that the group had left for Jeddah on an IndiGo flight via Mumbai, and their return ticket to India was booked for May 13.

At the airport, she said that 26,432 Saudi Riyals were collected in total, and they decided to keep them in baggage that had a lock. Accordingly, it was kept in the bag of Mohammad Badruddin Kadambar. The airport staff had even questioned what he had kept in the bag.

The group reached Jeddah on May 1. To their surprise, Kadambar found that the baggage lock was broken open, the zip was damaged, and cash was stolen upon reaching Jeddah.

DCP (Law and Order) Sidharth Goyal said that following the complaint, one round of CCTV checks was conducted at the MIA along with the CISF personnel. The loading at the MIA was intact.

Further checks have to be carried out at Mumbai and Jeddah Airport as the victim found out that cash was missing only when they got the bag at the final destination, he added.
