Na D'Souza chosen as president of Kannada Sahitya Sammelana 2014

Mangalore, Dec 4: Veteran Kannada litterateur Norbert D’Souza, popularly known as Na D’Souza, has been chosen as the president of the 80th Akhila Bharata Kannada Sahitya Sammelana to be held in Madikeri for three days from January 7.

The convention will be held in Kodagu after a gap of 32 years, said Kannada Sahitya Parishad Pundalika Halambi.

Na D’Souza has been in the Kannada literary domain over the last three decades. He has penned over three dozens of novels, four plays, 28 works of literature for children and hundreds of short stories.

Several films have been made based on his novels. Among them, ‘Kaadina Benki’ and ‘Dweepa’   have won Rajat Kamal and Swarna Kamal (Silver Lotus and Golden Lotus) awards.

He has also received several awards such as Kendra Sahitya Academy Award, Bala Shaitya Puraskar, Kannada Rajyothsava Award as well as Dr Kota Shivarama Karanth Birthday award for 2013.

The name of Na D’Souza was finally selected among personalities such as Dr M M Kalaburgi, Devanoor Mahadeva, Latha Rajashekar, B V Veerabhadrappa and Hampa Nagarajaiah.
