Mangalore, Apr 22: Two miscreants, suspected to be Sangh Parivar activists, blackened the face of communal-harmony activist Suresh Bhat Bakarabail in Mangalore on Tuesday.
The incident occurred soon after Bakrabail, the Dakshina Kannada district unit president of Karnataka Komu Sauharda Vedike (KKSV) addressed a press meet at Hotel Woodlands.
The press meet was hosted to inform the media persons about his organization's plan to hold a massive rally on April 24 against the recent cold blooded murder of Mangalore based youth Kabeer by ANF personnel.
An eye witness said: “Mr Bakrabail was talking to couple of people after the press meet. Two youths approached him and smeared cow dung on his face and fled within few seconds.”
A few young members of the KKSV, who were present on the spot, chased the trouble mongers and caught one of them.
The accused revealed his name as Harish. He was later handed over to the jurisdictional Mangalore North Police Station.
Although it appears to a handiwork of Sangh Parivar, the exact motive behind the act is yet be ascertained.
Ironically, the incident occurred exactly two years after Sangh Parivar activists smeared cow-dung on the face of English lecturer Pattabhirama Somayaji, who is also a communal harmony activist. It could be recalled here that Mr Somayaji's face was blackened by the Sangh Parivar miscreants on April 21, 2012.
More details awaited
