Mangalore, Jul 25: As many as 800 passports passport applications are pending in 26 police stations in Dakshina Kannada district including Mangalore city with the passport office for want of police verification certificates, said Home Minister K J George.
In a written reply to MLC Ivan D'Souza, Mr George said that 390 applications in 12 police stations under the limits Dakshina Kannada district and 410 applications in 14 police stations under Mangalore city commissionerate limits are pending.
“Police verification of a majority of the passport applicants is completed within a week or two under Karnataka Guarantee of Services to Citizens Act (Sakala), that promises services to people in a time-bound manner,” he clarified.
He also said that from 2011? to June 2014, a total of 38,878 applications were disposed off in 12 police stations under Dakshina Kannada district limits while 458 applications were rejected and 390 applications are pending.
Under Mangalore city commissionerate limits, a total of 11,828 applications were disposed off while 89 applications were rejected in 14 police stations. 410 applications are pending for want of the police verification certificates in 2014, he said.
