Mangalore, Sep 18: In a series of thefts, robbers made away with cash and valuables after gaining entry into at least six shops near Thokkottu, on the outskirts of the city.
Police sources said the thieves struck at six shops in and around Kallapu village under the jurisdiction of Ullal police station.
The serial theft that occurred in the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday came to light only in the morning.
˜Bed Zone', owned by Anwar Abbas in Ruksana Complex, 'Spark Electricals' belonging to Abdul Khader, 'United Timber Plywood' belonging to Shujauddin, 'Part Center' belonging to Iqbal were found ransacked by the thieves in the morning. Later two other small shops were also found burgled.
However, local sources said that the thieves could not gain much in their effort as owners had not left much cash in their stores.
Jurisdictional police visited the spot along with dog squad and fingerprint experts. A case has been registered.
