Belthangady, Oct 25: The 47th vardanthyothsava of the Pattabhisheka of Shri Kshetra Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari D Veerandra Heggade, was held at the Kshetra with pomp and splendour on Friday.
It was on October 24, 1968 that Veerandra was anointed as the 21st Dharmadhikari of Dharmasthala.
There was a greater celebration as the vardanthyothsava fell during the festival of Deepavali this year. A special pooja was offered at the temple and all basadis around the Kshetra.
To mark this occasion, Veerendra Heggade announced new schemes for the benefit of people of the Kshetra. He said that this year,'Shuddha Ganga' units would be installed in 365 different places to provide Floride-free pure drinking water to the devotees, under the rural development plan.
He also announced that rental centres for agricultural equipment would be set up in 161 hobbalis in the district with the cooperation of the government. For setting up the agricultural equipment rental shops, the Kshetra will provide Rs 20 crore while the government would provide Rs 60 crore for the project. At each rental store, Rs 50 lakhs worth agricultural equipment will be offered for rent at subsidised rates to farmers, he said.
Mr Heggade said that a grant of Rs 1,000 would be given each for the construction of one lakh toilets in and around the Kshetra. Around 520 new rooms will be constructed to provide accommodation to travellers visiting the Kshetra, he said.
In the felicitation programme held at Mahothsava Bhavan to mark the occasion, students and senior employees of the Kshetra were felicitated.
