Chikkamagaluru, Nov 15: Panic gripped villagers living around coffee plantations near Chikkamagaluru town as a tiger on the prowl killed a women and chased a four-wheeler in separate incidents.

Police sources said that the victim was a labourer. She was attacked by the beast at around 8:30 a.m. when she was going for regular work. A case has been registered at jurisdictional Mallandur police station.
The incident occurred four days after a mighty tiger was sighted in a coffee plantation near Bababudangiri Hills near Chikkamagaluru district.
The tiger was spotted on Wednesday at Krishnagiri estate, owned by Bhoje Gowda, which is close to the Bhadra Tiger Reserve.Family members of Mr. Bhoje Gowda had spotted the animal during a visit to the farm.
The animal, in fact, chased their four-wheeler for a short distance and then stopped. They have videotaped the movements of the animal sitting inside the vehicle.
The fresh incident of tiger attack has increased the fear among plantation workers and residents of villages near Chikkamagaluru.
Forest officials believe that it was a particular tiger which killed the woman and chased a vehicle.
In September also a traveller had sighted the tiger in the coffee plantation while going to Mullayyanagiri from Chikmagalur.
