Mangaluru, Mar 5: In a bid to overtake, the reckless driver of a speeding bus rammed into two vehicles leaving several persons injured at Kolnad near Mulky on the outskirts of the city on Thursday.
Even there were no reports of casualties, at least three persons were in a critical condition after the accident. The owners of all the three vehicles suffered huge losses. The accident led to a major traffic jam for nearly one hour on the busy road.
Eye witnesses said that the bus belonging to Vishal Travels first collided head-on with a speeding tempo and then rammed into a mini lorry transporting liquefied petroleum gas cylinders. The bus was moving towards Mangaluru from Karkala.
A portion of the bus was completely damaged. The front portion of the cylinder-laden lorry was also damaged. The mini lorry was toppled after being hit by the bus.
The drivers of all the three vehicles and around 10 passengers on board the bus including a woman suffered injuries in the accident. The condition of the drivers of bus and tempo and a woman passenger is said to be critical.
