The four-time MLA said that he had been receiving the calls at around 12.30 pm for two consecutive days. He received two calls on Tuesday too.
“Since, the police had warned him against taking the calls, he did not receive it. “Instead one of my friends took the call. The caller, who, according to me, is, probably, Ravi Poojary, spoke in Hindi. My friend told him that I had gone to the toilet and told him to call after 10 minutes.
Again, after five minutes, there was a call from Poojary, which he did not receive. Both were Internet calls. “I have given both the numbers from which I received the calls to the police,” he said. “While I am not afraid of such calls, my family members are concerned,” he said.
Mr Shetty said that he would not indulge in any illegal act as he does not fear for his life. He would not succumb to the pressure and pay up the money, he said.
On Monday Mr Shetty had lodge a police complaint that he had received an extortion call from a person who identified himself as Ravi Poojary. Udupi district Superintendent of Police K. Annamalai visited my house and reviewed the security arrangements.
