Mangaluru, May 30: On the occasion of 15th World Milk Day, Dakshina Kannada Cooperative Milk Producers' Union Limited (DKMUL), Kulshekhar will distribute Nandini milk and fruits to patients free of cost at Wenlock District Hospital and Government Lady Goschen Hospital in the city on June 1, said DKMUL president Raviraj Hegde.
Speaking at a press conference here on Saturday, he said that union would also distribute Nandini milk and fruits to the resident children at Bhagini Samaj in Jeppu on Monday and conduct an awareness session for them on the significance of World Milk Day.
He said that the milk and fruits would be distributed to the patients in the presence of Minister for Health and Family Welfare U T Khader, Mangaluru South MLA J R Lobo, district surgeon Dr Rajeshwari Devi, superintendent of Wenlock Hospital Dr Shakunthala, DKMUL Managing Director Dr B V Sathyanarayana and others.
On the same day, minister for environment and forests B Ramanath Rai will inaugurate the training centre-cum-guesthouse set up by the union in Kulshekhar. Dakshina Kannada MP Nalin Kumar Kateel will inaugurate the newly-constructed agro-waste steam boiler, which will generate enough steam necessary for the production of dairy products in the district. On the occasion, SCDCC Bank president M N Rajendra Kumar will inaugurate a new conference hall constructed by the union, he informed.
The dealers supplying maximum amount of dairy products to consumers in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts in the previous fiscal year will be felicitated for their achievement, he added.
DKMUL director Ashok Kumar Shetty, Dr B V Sathyanarayana and others were present on the occasion.
