Mangaluru, Jun 12: Hephsiba Rani Korlapati, the Commissioner of Mangaluru City Corporation, who had been at loggerheads with corporators ever since she assumed office on January 1 this year, has finally been transferred. With this, dozens of corporators of MCC, who had been complaining against her to the chief minister and other ministers for past few months, have breathed a sigh of relief.
According to unconfirmed sources, the tough IAS officer has been posted as the Chief Executive Officer of the Vijayapura Zilla Panchyat.
Jacintha Alfred, the Mayor of MCC, who had also indirectly criticized Commissioner’s “attitude” during recent council meetings, declined to comment on the transfer.
28-year-old Ms Korlapati, who hails from Andhra Pradesh, had secured the 20th rank in the All India Civil Services Examination in 2010. She passed IAS exam at the age of 24.
Before coming to Mangaluru, she had worked as the Assistant Commissioner, Basavakalyan, Bidar and Commissioner of Basavakalyan Development Board. She had also served as (Probationary) Commissioner of Mandya City Municipal Council.
