New Delhi, Jun 30: While PM Modi's #SelfieWithDaughter appeal took Twitter by storm on Sunday, Nishrin Jafri's selfie with her father, late Congress MP Ehsan Jafri, gave a poignant twist to the entire campaign.
Nishrin Jafri shared an image with her late father Ehsan along with a caption “#SelfieWithDaughter: This one will haunt him forever.”
The post has gone viral on social media platforms, with 1,798 shares on Facebook. The post has been liked by nearly 4,227 Facebook users and has become a trending topic on Twitter.
Ehsan Jafri was murdered during the 2002 Gujarat riots along with 69 other Muslims by a Hindu mob.
Even though she didn't mention Modi's name, it was evident from her post that she was targeting the then Gujarat CM.
The Special Investigation Team, appointed by the Supreme Court in 2008 to probe Modi's alleged role in the riots, found no prosecutable evidence. Some of the tweets in response to her post are as follows:
Siraj Wahab @sirajwahab : I am waiting for that moment when @narendramodi will meet Nishrin Jafri and her mother Zakia Jafri. He should show courage and say: "Sorry."
Rana Ayyub @RanaAyyub : A #SelfieWithDaughter which modi sarkaar should be embarassed about. Nishrin with her slain father Ahsan Jafri
Suchitra Vijayan @suchitrav : India's archive of terror, is her memory, her history& the unaccounted bodies with no justice #EhsanJafri #NishrinJafri #SelfieWithDaughter
