New Delhi, Jul 3: In keeping with the July 3 deadline set by the government, telecom service providers will roll out the much-anticipated mobile number portability (MNP) system across the country from Friday.
If an Airtel user in Bengaluru shifts to Vodafone service in Delhi, he/she can retain the Bengaluru number. At present, a subscriber is allowed to change the service provider while retaining the same number within his/her existing telecom circle. A subscriber in Delhi-NCR region can change service provider within the Delhi-NCR area only.
Several service providers, including Airtel, Vodafone, state-run BSNL and MTNL said they are ready to launch the service.
