Belthangady, Jul 4: A minor issue snowballed into a clash between two groups of students in Belthangady First Grade College campus, resulting in a complaint and counter complaint lodged at Belthangady police station on Friday.
According to a complaint lodged by Adarsh (19), a degree student, when he declined to participate in the protest held by Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad, Swassthik, an ex-student of the same college insulted him using foul language and began assaulting him in the college campus.
Other ABVP members such as Vinod Raj, Nithin, Praveen, Lakmesha, Dinesh, Vinay Kumar, Srujan and others also joined Swastik in the assault.
According to the counter complaint lodged by Vinod Raj in this regard, during the protest undertaken by ABVP, members from another student outfit NSUI Pramod, Jayaprakash, Kumar, Sandeep Suvarna, Praveen, Chetan, Vinod Raj Alva, Sadanand, Akshath, Adarsh, Sunil, and others tried to obstruct the protest and began using offensive language against the protestors.
They also assaulted a few participating in the protest, said the complaint. The students injured in the assaults have been admitted in Belthangady government hospital.
In the same regard, principal of Belthangady First Grade College has lodged a complaint against a person named Swathik for having assaulted a student Adarsh inside the college campus and disrupting the college atmosphere. He has urged appropriate legal action against the accused. All the three cases have been registered in Belthangady police station.
