Mangaluru, Aug 29: With the Karnataka Premier League (KPL) 2015 Twenty20 tournament all set to commence on September 3 in Hubbali, the 'Mangalore United' team will unveil the official t-shirts for its team players and release the theme song of the tournament on Sunday at Forum Fiza Mall in the city.
Announcing this at a press conference here on Saturday, MLA B A Mohiuddin Bava, co-owner of Mangalore United, said that on the occasion, Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) secretary Brijesh Patel would unveil the KPL trophy during a press briefing prior to the formal unveiling ceremony.
He said that the team shortlisted for the fourth edition of KPL this year was a strong one, which had a good chance of emerging as winners in the current edition of the tournament.
According to him, two players Karun Nair and Ronit More had been retained by the franchise from the previous team for KPL 2015. The unveiling ceremony will be held at 6 p.m. on Sunday, he informed.
KPL 2015 to kickstart with Mangalore United match
The first leg of the tournament will be held from September 3 to 10 at KSCA Stadium in Hubballi, while the second leg will be held from September 12 to 20 in Mysuru (Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar Ground).
The first match of the tournament will be Mangalore United Vs Belagavi Panthers on September 3 in Hubbali. The finals of KPL 2015 are scheduled to be held on September 20 in Mysuru.
As per the final list of players, the Mangalore United team will comprise of Karun Nair (retained), Ronit More (retained), Shishir Bhavane, Udit Patel, K C Avinash, Syed Moinuddin, T Pradeep, B N Bharath, Rohit Sabharwal, Rohan Kadam, Mitrakanth Yadav, Nihal F Shilar, Harshdeep Singh Brar, Nishchith Raj, Rahul Gautham, Abhishek Bhat and B Praveen Kumar.
The total money reportedly spent on the players is Rs 17,95,750.
