Mangaluru, Oct 9: A gang of unidentified miscreants on Friday morning brutally murdered a Sangh Parivar activist near his flower shop at Moodbidri on the outskirts of the city.
The deceased has been identified as Prashant (29), a resident of Hosabettu village. He was a flower merchant and owned a shop near Samaja Mandir Gate.
The incident took place at around 7 a.m. when Prashant came to his shop along with stock of fresh flowers.
The assailants reportedly followed him without his knowledge and attacked him with lethal weapons a few metres away from his shop.
Soon after the gang fled the scene, Prashat was rushed to a hospital in Mangaluru. However, he breathed his last within half an hour, sources said.
The circumstances leading to his murder are not known. Local sources said that he had animosity with many people. He also used to actively take part in most of the programmes organised by Hindutva outfits in Moodbidri. Morde details are awaited.
