Udupi, Jun 29: In what could have been a major tragedy, a school bus carrying around 25 students collided with a car on Tuesday on National Highway 66 near Shiroor village in Kundapur taluk of Udupi district.
It is learnt that the driver of the bus belonging to Green Valley National School lost control over his vehicle while negotiating a curve near Sakandagundi Bridge and rammed into the oncoming car.
The accident took place at around 3 p.m. when the bus was on its way from Shiroor to Bhatkal taking the children back home. The car was plying from Bhatkal to Udupi.
All the four occupants of the car suffered injuries in the accident. They underwent treatment at a hospital in Kundapur.
Even though the bus also suffered a small damage, all students were fortunately safe, sources said. The panicked children were dropped to their houses through another bus.
A case has been registered at the Byndoor police station. Investigation is on.
It could be recalled here that on June 21 the collision between a speeding private bus and a school van on the same highway at Trasi village coming under Gangolli police station limits in Kundapur taluk had claimed the lives of eight students of Don Bosco School.
