Bengaluru, Jun 30: A recent viral video which shows police blocking an ambulance on Chikballapur-Chintamani Highway near Hoskote to facilitate movement of Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah's convoy was fake, according to police.
Naveen, 32, who had met with an accident near Kolar, was being taken to hospital. Ambulance driver Dadapeer and technical assistant Lakshman also confirmed that there was no woman and the ambulance was not obstructed, he said.
Police had ordered an inquiry after the video went viral soon after it appeared on Facebook on June 25. The post had claimed that a woman on board the ambulance died after police blocked it.
Singh said the police identified the person who had uploaded the footage and action would be taken against him. Police followed norms of ensuring access to ambulances carrying patients, he claimed.
Lakshman said there was a jam near Hoskote and the police had informed them that the CM's convoy was passing through the stretch. Police made way for the CM and his convoy, he claimed. He said he waited for about four minutes and then the ambulance passed. Asked about Lakshman's claims, Singh said the police wanted to clarify that no patient died and ended the press conference.
Earlier, the chief minister had ordered a probe into the incident. Speaking to reporters in the city, Siddaramaiah said he had asked DG&IGP to probe the matter.
