Udupi, Jul 31: A hotelier has been missing in Udupi for past four days under mysterious circumstances. His mother suspected that he might have been kidnapped by his wife and son.
Bhaskar Shetty (52), the proprietor of the Hotel Durga International, here is the missing man. He left his home on July 28 but never returned.
In a complaint lodged at Manipal police station on Saturday, Mr Shetty's mother claimed that he was assaulted by his wife Rajeshwari and son last month in his hotel.
She also urged to police to detain her daughter-in-law and grandson and question them to find out the truth.
As part of investigation police visited Mr Shetty's house 'Eshwari' at Indrali and questioned his wife and son. According to them on July 28 morning, Mr Shetty went home, took bath and left without saying anything.
It is learnt that Mr Shetty also runs a business in Saudi Arabia and often visited the Arab Kingdom. However, recently his passport was stolen and he had to post-pone his Saudi visit.
Even though Mr Shetty is the actual owner of Hotel Durga International, his wife looked after the business. Manipal police have registered a case and investigations are on.
