Mangaluru, Aug 30: At least two persons were killed and one more suffered severe injuries in a serial mishap involving multiple vehicles along Bengaluru-Mangaluru National Highway 75 at Neerakatte near Uppinangady on Tuesday.
It is said that that a speeding goods tempo headed towards Nelyadi was trying to an oil-tanker on a curved stretch. Even though the tanker driver Haleem Pasha tried his best to avert the collision by going to the extreme left of the road, the tempo driver rammed into it.
There were at least three people on-board the tempo: Driver Kurram (32), from Mysuru, Rama (40) from Hassan, and Sharief (33) from Kolpe - all of them suffered injuries.
Within a second after Rama and Sharief alighted from the tempo a speeding Mangaluru-bound tourist bus by name Sugama' rammed into the same tempo and also knocked down the duo.
While Rama died on the road, Kurram breathed his last inside the goods tempo cabin. A critically injured Sharief was admitted to a private hospital at Puttur and has been placed under observation at the ICU there.
A case has been registered in Puttur traffic police station based on a complaint lodged by Haleem Pasha.
