Bengaluru, Oct 21: A few Muslim corporators of the Congress party are said to have threatened to resign for being “sidelined”. Their grouse is that none of them has been made chairperson of any standing committee of the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP).
Among those who complained were Abdul Rakeeb Zakir, Seema Altaf Khan, Mohammed Rizwan and Shakeel Ahmed. They were aggrieved that Venkatesh, a first-time corporator, has been made chairperson of the appeal standing committee, while Muslim corporators who have been elected several times were ignored. Khan is learnt to have threatened to resign on October 25 if she is not made chairperson of any standing committee.
When contacted, Dinesh conceded that some Muslim corporators called on him and aired their grievances, but he insisted that none of them was resigning.
