Mangaluru, Oct, 22: Terming the attack on Rev. Fr Michael Santhumayor, the principal of Milagres College, Mangaluru, by a final year degree student on October 20,highly condemnable' andinhuman act', UT Ifthikar Fareed, Senate Member of Rajiv Gandhi University, has said that the incident brought disgrace to the Dakhshina Kannad district, which is known as an educational hub in the country.
In a media release, Mr Ifthikar called upon the department of education and educational intuitions of the coastal district to extend moral support to the principal, who was hospitalized after the assault.
“Rev. Fr Michael Santhumayor is not only a teacher and principal, but also a priest, who is leading a selfless life and has dedicated his entire life to the service in the field of knowledge. May God give him good health and long life to continue his service,” he said.

Rowdyism on campuses should be nipped in the bud. Police should play a key role in this regard. They should take stringent action against the accused and send a strong message to those who indulge in such criminal activities, he stated.
