Bengaluru, Feb 17: Former chief minister and BJP Karnataka president B.S. Yeddyurappa appears to have started the process of modifying the office-bearers’ list.
He has scheduled a meeting with prominent party leaders from district units, who have sought change in the composition of the organisational team. According to sources, the consultation has been scheduled on February 25 in Bengaluru.
The choice of new office-bearers by Mr. Yeddyurappa, after taking over as the party’s State president, had become a bone of contention as some party old guards alleged that seniors had been sidelined. Some of them also wrote to him seeking modification.
Party national president Amit Shah had also asked Mr. Yeddyurappa to modify the office-bearers’ list.
Party’s senior leaders are satisfied with Mr. Yeddyurappa’s move. “Though we are still not sure whether there would be changes in the team, the fact that he has begun the process is a positive move,” a prominent leader said.
It is also being seen as realisation by Mr. Yeddyurappa that the Sangh Parivar in the State and the Central leadership want him to take everybody along. According to sources, the party old-timers want at least six to seven district organisational units to be modified.
Already, at the State-level, Mr. Yeddyurappa has effected a minor change by re-appointing former MLC Ashwathnarayana as party’s media spokesperson. He was one of those who had been dropped from the post earlier.
