Mangaluru, Feb 20: An altercation between two groups over property dispute culminated in a youth sustaining critical stab injuries inside a house at Perla in Kasargod district.
Ibrahim Khalil, 25, son of Aboobecker, a resident of Kandige locality at Perla, falling under Badiadukka police station limits, was rushed to a hospital in Mangaluru. Another youth sustained stab wounds on hands and was being treated at a hospital here, police said, adding they had registered cases.
The incident occurred around 9 p.m. on Saturday, as the two rival parties, said to be relatives, held talks at the residence of Hassainar Haji to resolve a property dispute.
After a while, one group got furious when the talks didn’t seem to reach a consensus. They locked the front gate of the house and stabbed the youths with a knife after confining them inside a room in the residence. Mr. Khalil suffered deep stab wounds on chest.
His relatives rushed him to Mangaluru hospital after neighbours helped to take the injured out of the building after forcing open the locked gates.
According to sources here, Mr. Khalil continued to remain critical at the Mangaluru hospital, where the police have gone to record statements from the injured to ascertain further details of the incident.
