Mangaluru, May 27: Mangaluru International Airport authorities have finally taken action against the parking contractor for extracting a parking fee of Rs 60 from every vehicle entering the airport premises to pick up or drop passengers.
However, in recent days many people had complained against the parking attendants for demanding the minimum parking fee though their vehicles had exited the premises within seven minutes of their entry.
In the wake of increasing complaints, VV Rao, the director of the airport, had recently set up a permanent committee to monitor deficiencies at the airport and suggest changes.
The committee found out a synchronization error of three minutes at the entry and exit clocks which meant that the parking contractor was charging vehicles for staying inside the premises for just four minutes.
Mr Rao said that the parking contractor was fined for violating the contract conditions and cheating visitors. Mr Rao has also warned the contractor that his contract would be cancelled if it occurred again.
