Mangaluru, May 29: The Communist Party of India (Marxist) has decided to field its candidate in five of the eight assembly constituencies in Dakshina Kannada district in 2018 Karnataka polls.
G V Sriram Reddy, CPI (M) state secretary told media persons here that his party will field its candidates in Mangaluru (Ullal), Mangaluru (South), Mangaluru (North), Mulki-Moodbidri and Belthangady constituencies.
Condemning recent violence in Kalladka town of Bantwal taluk, Mr Reddy said that Sangh Parivar was conspiring to create communal disturbances in coastal district ahead of next assembly polls.
He said that RSS and BJP were engaged in spreading false propaganda to mislead the Hindus. “The Sangh Parivar is engaged in creating communal disturbances for political gain across the state.
Condemning RSS leader Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat’s statement that the stabbing incident at Kalladka was for self-protection, Reddy said that through such statements, Bhat is trying to justify the act.
Criticizing Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for failing to curb communal elements in Dakshina Kannada district, he said that breakdown of administrative mechanism in Dakshina Kannada is partially responsible for such incidents.
