Foundation stone laid for students’ hostel

Karkala: The foundation stone laying ceremony for the students hostel of Darul Uloom Al-Maarif was recently held at Kariyakallu, Karkala recently. The program was organized by Karkala Association of Saudi Arabia (KASA), an NRI wing based in Dammam.

Chief guest Maulana Kalimulla Gargeshvari and KS Mohammed Masood, former MLC and President of Mangaluru and Udupi Central Committee, in the presence of other elites led the stone laying ceremony.

Mr Masood, speaking on the occasion, said that the Muslim community should give equal importance to both material and religious education.

Presiding over the programme, Maulana kalimulla explained the importance of knowing Quran and said that lack of Quranic knowledge is one of the main reasons for the problems faced by the Muslim community in the present days.

Yahiya Saheb, President of Udupi District Wakf Advisory Committee, said that that the leaders should be prepared for all kinds of sacrifices for the development of the community. Haji Hanif, Secretary of Mangaluru and Udupi Central Committee, explained the importance of such religious institutions in the current situation.

Mufti Abdul Rehman Al Qasimi, Managing Director of the education institute welcomed guests. Representative from KASA Imran Rashid Karkala briefed about the objectives and activities of the KASA.

He also sought the co-operation of public with KASA in its activities such as extending help to the poor, needy, students, patients and other supporting services.

Imtiyaz Ahmed, president of Karkala Muslim Jamaat, Zahid Hussain, leader of Welfare Party, Abdul Majid Mujur, KASA representative, Salahuddin Saheb Udupi, and Haji Yunus sahib, Secretary of Al Maarif Education Society were present.

Ajman: Ashok Bai Baria (44), a resident of Valsad - Ahmedabad, succumbed to a heart attack in Ajman. 

The incident occurred on March 13 morning at his residence, following which he experienced severe physical distress leading to the fatal cardiac arrest. 

Fishing has been a longstanding activity in Ajman- UAE, with Baria being actively involved in the profession for many years. 

Salam Pappinissery, CEO of Yab Legal Services in the UAE, has informed that all necessary arrangements are underway to repatriate the deceased's body to his hometown.
