Mumbai, July 21: Indian spinner Rahul Sharma on Friday tested positive for consumption of drugs at a rave party held in a posh Juhu hotel in May this year, said Mumbai Police. Sharma was present at the party along with South African cricketer Wayne Parnell when it was busted by the police.

The Mumbai Police said that 42 of the 44 people arrested tested positive for drugs.

The question now is whether Sharma will be dropped from the squad which is all set to play an ODI against Sri Lanka on Saturday.

The BCCI, however, has said it will take a decision after examining the proof.

"I don't know why everyone is in a mood to execute Rahul Sharma without even going into the details," President N Srinivasan said. "The BCCI will first procure each and every bit of relevant information and then study them before deciding on the course of action," he added.

Sources, however, say that if "an unfortunate situation like this" does arise, then the BCCI will look at the "saftey net" first and possibly pull the player "out of the tour".

Thirty-five of the 42 tested positive for cannabis. Three tested positive for both cannabis and cocaine, while four for cannabis and MDMA.

Rahul Sharma had, at the time of detention, denied taking drugs at the party.
