Abu Dhabi, July 15: A housemaid fell off the eighth flour while hiding from the police. R.A, 28, Asian housemaid who was illegally staying in the country tried to escape from the police and fell off the window fearing to be caught and deported.

“When the policeman reached the apartment door on the eighth floor to issue a violation for a displaying laundry to dry out of the window, R.A. panicked and tried to flee the police. Thinking that the policeman was there for immigration reasons. In an attempt to flee she fell out of the window,” said Colonel Rashid Borsheed, director of Investigation at the Abu Dhabi Police.

“Unfortunately this reflects the extreme fear in which violators live,” he added.

Borsheed called on individuals and firms not to employ or harbour illegal aliens advising the entire community to collaborate with the police.

“We got a call at the operation room stating that a girl fell off the eighth floor in Khalidiaya. Police cars and ambulances were immediately dispatched to the scene,” said Lt Col. Jumaa Al Kaabi, at the police investigation.

“We found the girl’s dead. She had multiple fractures and severe injuries. A team was formed to investigate the incident. Initial investigation revealed that when the inspector showed up for the laundry violation, R.A. got scared and tried at first to hide in the bathroom then escaped from the window, climbed the sewage pipe and fell,” he explained.

“The UAE residency laws are meant to protect people. Helping illegal aliens will have legal consequences,” Al Kaabi concluded.
