Dubai, July 19: A 19-year-old Emirati weighing nearly 170 kg died aboard an Emirates aircraft en route to Thailand for treatment of obesity, prompting the pilot to make emergency landing in southern India, a newspaper reported on Thursday

Doctors in Hyderabad airport said Ali Ibrahim Senjour died of heart attack as he was heading for Thailand to get treatment for obesity.

Ali was accompanied by some family members aboard flight 374 on Tuesday morning and officials at the southern Indian airport said measures were under way to repatriate his body to Dubai.

“After the plane landed at Rajiv Gandhi airport, a doctor came in and examined Ali…he then declared him dead,” Dubai-based Emarat Alyoum daily said.
