Mangalore, July 4: The activists of Students Federation of India on Wednesday staged a demonstration in front of Mangalore Central Railway Station in protest against the change in timings of Cheruvathur -Mangalore passenger train.

Speaking on the occasion SFI DK district president Nithin Kumar Kutthar said that the revised timetable of the train has created lot of trouble for regular commuters between Kerala and Karnataka.

The train earlier used to leave Cheruvathur at 6:30 am and reach Mangalore at 8:30 am every day. However, after the revision of the timetable the same train leaves Cheruvathur at 7:00 am and reaches Mangalore at 9:00 am. The delay is affecting hundreds of students who travel from Kerala Mangalore every day. Many students will face shortage of attendance due to this delay, he said.

Apart from students large number of people also travel from Kerala to Mangalore regularly for various reasons and many of them have to reach their offices in Mangalore by 9:00 am, he pointed out.

He demanded that the new change of timings of the train should be immediately withdrawn.

Mr Kutthar also warned the government that students would intensify their protest if the concerned authorities failed to fulfill their demands.

The protesters later submitted a memorandum to Palakad Railway Division officials.
